There
is a wonderful organization on
the net called:
Child Watch of North
America
Their motto is:
"Working together to help
keep our children safe."
~~~~
As
we are aware and know, “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER”.
The Child Watch
Organization
teaches
parents, children,
teachers and communities how
to
recognize and react to
potentially dangerous
situations.
The
following is a direct quote from
the pages of Child Watch:
“Predators
often ask children for help as a
way to get close to them and
catch
them
off guard. A basic rule of thumb
is whenever an adult asks a
child for
help,
the child needs to be on guard
and maintain a safe distance.
This is a
trick
often used because kids
naturally want to help adults.
“Help me find
My
lost puppy” ~ “ I need help
with directions” ~ “ Would
you like to see some
Baby
(rabbits, kittens,
etc)”. All are common lures
used by predators to
Lure
our children.”
Child
Watch also provides free, an at
Home version of the Child Watch
ID
card, but unfortunately due to
the extremely high number of
requests
The
“At-Home” ID kits are
temporarily unavailable. Check back in the very near
future
as they are hoping to have the
program back in service soon.
Child
watch has a wonderful page
entitled “Kidguard Safety
Program”
And
you can reach it by simply
clicking this link:
http://www.childwatch.org/rules.htm
This
provides parents and children
with the knowledge to provide
safety
and help make the right decisions. Please
visit this page as it includes
role
playing
for the child and parent to
enact so that the child can
become
Familiar
with handling different
situation.
“If
children are taught how to
recognize potentially dangerous
situations, those times when
they should be on guard, and then
are trained how to respond to a
particular situation, we can
eliminate a child trying to
decide, "Is this a good
person, or a bad person"?
They simply know that if
"this" happens,
"this" is how I react.
We encourage parents to
thoroughly go over the safety
rules with their child, role
play, rehearse. . .give
your child the tools to make the
right decision, a decision that
could save their life!”
