"Your
children are not
your children.
They are the
sons and
daughters of
life's longing
for itself. They
come
through you but
not from you,
and
though they are
with you, yet
they
belong not to
you. You may
give them
your love, but
not your
thoughts. For
they have their
own thoughts.
You may
house their
bodies but not
their souls,
for their souls
dwell in the
house
of tomorrow,
which you cannot
visit,
not even in your
dreams.
"You
may strive to be
like them,
but seek not to
make them like
you.
For life goes
not backward nor
tarries
with yesterday.
You are the bows
from
which your
children as
living arrows
are sent forth.
The archer sees
the
mark upon the
path of the
infinite
and he bends you
to his might
that his
arrows may go
swift and far.
Let your
bending in the
archer's hand be
for
gladness; for
even as he loves
the arrow
that flies, so
he loves also
the bow
that is
stable."
~Gibran
Khalil Gibran~
One
night a man had
a dream. He
dreamed he was
walking along
the beach with
the LORD. Across
the sky flashed
scenes from his
life. For each
scene he noticed
two sets of
footprints in
the sand: one
belonging to
him, and the
other to the
LORD. When the
last scene of
his life flashed
before him, he
looked back at
the footprints
in the sand. He
noticed that
many times along
the path of his
life there was
only one set of
footprints. He
also noticed
that it happened
at the very
lowest and
saddest times in
his life. This
really bothered
him and he
questioned the
LORD about it:
"LORD, you
said that once I
decided to
follow you,
you'd walk with
me all the way.
But I have
noticed that
during the most
troublesome
times in my
life, there is
only one set of
footprints. I
don't understand
why when I
needed you most
you would leave
me." The
LORD replied:
"My son, my
precious child,
I love you and I
would never
leave you.
During your
times of trial
and suffering,
when you see
only one set of
footprints, it
was then that I
carried
you."

Fold
two hands
together
And express a
dash of sorrow
Marinate it
overnight
And work on it
tomorrow
Chop one grudge
in tiny pieces
Add several cups
of love
Dredge with a
large sized
smile
Mix with the
ingredients
above
Dissolve the
hate within you
By doing a good
deed
Cut in and help
your friend
If he should be
in need
Stir in
laughter, love,
and kindness
From the heart
it has to come
Toss with
genuine
forgiveness
And give your
neighbor some
The amount of
people served
Will depend on
you
It can serve the
whole wide world
If you really
want it to
